DO YOU NEED HELP PAYING FOR YOUR TOOLS?
THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT OFFERS TRADE SUPPORT LOANS TO GET YOU STARTED AT WORK

What are Trade Support Loans?
Trade Support Loans are loans paid in instalments totalling up to $20,808 spread over four years. These loans are intended to assist apprentices with everyday costs while they complete their apprenticeship. Eligible Trade Australian Apprentices may apply to opt-in for regular installment according to their needs.

How do Trade Support Loans work?
Trade Support Loans are a more effective method of assisting eligible apprentices with their everyday cost while they undertake their apprenticeship. The program provides apprentices with up to $20,808 as an income contingent loan, compared with the old Tools For Your Trade payment.

Payments are as follows: Year 1 = Up to $8,323 – Year 2 = Up to $6,242 – Year 3 = Up to $4,162 – Year 4 = Up to $2,081

Upon Completion of Apprenticeship = 20% discount is applied to the loan amounts borrowed

Loan amount will be repaid through the taxation system when the minimum income threshold is reached. In 2018-19 the minimum repayment occurs at income threshold of $51,957.
